PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi on Thursday launched a Rs2.6 billion mobile veterinary healthcare project under which 145 mobile veterinary clinics and 27 laboratory units will be established across the province.
According to officials, the “Ehsaas Be-Zuban Sehat Gaari” project also includes the deployment of 202 veterinary doctors and assistants.
The mobile clinics will provide vaccination and treatment facilities for livestock at the tehsil level, while the mobile veterinary network will be connected to a central digital dashboard.
Speaking at the launch, Afridi described the initiative as a “thought, compassion and commitment”, saying no farmer should remain deprived of veterinary services because of geographical distances.
“Protecting voiceless animals from the lack of medical facilities is our responsibility,” the chief minister said.
He said the government’s objective was to prevent diseases and improve the productivity of livestock.
Millions of families across the province rely on livestock for income and financial stability, Afridi said, adding that farmers in remote and underdeveloped areas would also benefit from modern veterinary facilities.
“Our objective is to provide people with safe and quality food,” the chief minister said.
