Police said that they were keeping a close watch on both male and female TikTokers and will act without discrimination as part of a wider campaign against “those spreading immorality in society.”
Police have also shared videos of the arrested TikTokers apologizing to the public and pledging not to post indecent content again.
Peshawar Police SSP (Operations) Masood Ahmed said that influencers making objectionable content were being identified and their data collected.
He said that letters were being written to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to block accounts deemed harmful to society.
Ahmed appealed to citizens to help police by reporting such TikTokers so that immediate action could be taken against them.
Petition filed in Peshawar High Court
Meanwhile, social worker Saqibur Rehman has filed a petition in the Peshawar High Court against TikTokers for live streaming of games and indecent videos.
The petitioner argued that TikTok live games are misleading youth for money
He contended that “in live videos, men and women are forced to perform indecent acts under the guise of punishment.”
He urged the court to order the removal of such content from TikTok and other social media platforms, and initiate strict action against those involved.
