KP police issue initial report on Hangu dual suicide blast

HANGU: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police have released an initial probe report into the tragic double suicide blast at a mosque in Hangu that occurred during a prayer time.
According to the initial report, the incident unfolded when two suicide attackers attempted to enter the mosque during prayer time.
According to the police, wwift action by security personnel on duty led to the neutralisation of one suicide attacker outside the mosque, which led to minimim casualties.
According to the police, security personnel engaged in a firefight with the attackers, ensuring that they were unable to cause further harm within the mosque. As a result, police averted a potentially more devastating consequence.

Following the initial blast and exchange of gunfire, worshippers were able to safely exit the mosque, reducing the overall harm inflicted, the police said. Nevertheless, investigations into the attack are ongoing, with law enforcement examining every aspect of the incident, the police said.
KP police are committed to determining the origins and motives of the attackers, ensuring that justice is served in this unfortunate incident, KP Police Inspector-General Akhtar Hayat said.
At least four individuals, including a police officer, were killed during two successive blasts. An additional 12 individuals sustained injuries in the incident, according to local law enforcement agencies.
