PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Department Education has initiated proceeding against teachers after their students exhibited dismal results in the recently announced matriculation examinations.
According to a report compiled by the department, 80 per cent of the students from 736 government schools in the province failed in the matric examination.
Astonishingly, 82 government schools recorded a complete failure rate, with not a single student passing the metric exams.
The situation is equally grim in other institutions, where 24 government schools reported a 98% failure rate and 34 schools reported a 97% failure rate. These results have raised serious questions about the quality of education being provided in the region.

Even more concerning is the fact that 21 schools reported a 96% failure rate, while 38 schools reported a 95% failure rate among their students. The schools that are under scrutiny for providing these abysmal results are predominantly located in the tribal areas, adding another layer of complexity to the problem.
The KP education department has initiated disciplinary actions against the teachers responsible for these dismal results.
Sources said that special recommendations are being prepared to address the issue. The department has issued show-cause notices to the teachers deemed responsible, while decisions are also under way to cut teaching allowances for those found to be underperforming.
