KP to launch school enrollment drive in merged districts

PESHAWAR: The caretaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government announced it will launch a comprehensive school enrollment drive from next week with a particular focus on merged districts.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the task force for technical education skills and development chaired by KP Caretaker Chief MinisterJustice (retd) Syed Arshad Hussain Shah.

The meeting was also attended by Corps Commander Peshawar, provincial ministers, and other civil and military officials.

A spokesperson for the KP government said that the meeting discussed to increase KP’s literary rate by making concerted effort in addressing educational challenges faced by the province.

The initiative will focus particularly on the merged districts of KP, facing acute literacy shortages. The campaign will launch foremost in these areas, the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson said that the education drive will also target other regions with overall low literacy rates in the province.

Special attention will be given to children aged five to 16 years. This will also extend to introducing formal education in madrassas, the spokesperson said. 

The spokesperson said that the campaign has been developed in collaboration with the Pakistan army and KP’s education department.

The role of Pakistan army in preparing this campaign is commendable”, the caretaker CM said.

KP to launch skills development programme for youth

Meanwhile, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to launch a skills development programme for the youth under the Information Technology Board next week.

The programme aims to provide modern training to the youth in accordance with the international market demands. The decision was made in a meeting of the task force chaired by KP Caretaker Chief Minister Syed Arshad Hussain Shah.
