web desk: Saudi Arabia has issued a scathing condemnation of Iranian attacks targeting a Kuwaiti Armed Forces base and critical utility infrastructure, including a power and water desalination plant.
In a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Kingdom described the strikes as “cowardly” and “heinous” acts that pose a grave threat to regional security and stability, according to Arab News.
The assaults, which took place on Sunday, resulted in injuries to several Kuwaiti military personnel and caused significant material damage to essential civilian services.
Riyadh reaffirmed its full solidarity with Kuwait, asserting that any threat to the sovereignty of its neighbour is a direct threat to the security of the wider Gulf region.
Escalation in the Gulf: Targets and casualties
The offensive involved a combination of missile and drone strikes, with one barrage hitting a military encampment and another striking a service building at a major desalination facility.
Kuwaiti authorities confirmed that 10 soldiers were injured during the military strike, while a separate hit on the power plant tragically resulted in the death of a foreign worker.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has called upon the international community to take a firm stand against these “blatant violations” of international law, warning that the targeting of vital civilian infrastructure marks a dangerous shift in the ongoing regional tensions.
