Lady Gaga has abruptly cancelled a scheduled concert in Montreal after her condition worsened, with doctors stepping in to stop her from performing.
The singer announced on April 6 that she would no longer take the stage for her third and final show at the Bell Centre, revealing she has been battling a respiratory infection.
“I’m so sorry to share that I’m unable to perform tonight and have to cancel the show,” she said in a statement posted to Instagram. “I’ve been fighting a respiratory infection for the past few days… but it’s gotten worse.”
She added that her doctor had “strongly advised” her against performing, admitting she would not be able to deliver the level of performance fans expect.
‘Heartbroken’ message to fans
Gaga apologised to fans who had planned to attend the show, saying she felt she was letting them down.
“I know how deeply disappointing this is, and I truly could not feel worse about letting you down,” she wrote. “To everyone who was coming tonight, I’m absolutely heartbroken and so sorry.”
The Montreal show was part of her ongoing Mayhem Ball Tour, where she had already performed two earlier shows in the city.
Tour continues despite setback
The Mayhem Ball Tour is set to conclude on April 13, with remaining stops including shows in Saint Paul and a final performance at Madison Square Garden in New York.
Gaga has faced setbacks on the tour before, previously rescheduling dates due to vocal strain.
Despite the disruption, the tour itself was expanded following strong demand after the release of her album Mayhem.
The singer had said she wanted the tour to deliver a more controlled, theatrical experience, opting for arena venues over stadiums.
For now, however, her focus remains on recovery after being forced to step back at the last minute.
