LAHORE: Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Lahore Qalandars have signed Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman ahead of PSL 11, securing the pacer in a direct deal worth Rs60.44 million.

Mustafizur, known globally for his sleek slower deliveries and effectiveness in death overs, had recently been removed from Indian Premier League (IPL) side Kolkata Knight Riders, opening the door for his PSL move.

The Qalandars’ acquisition marks a high-profile signing for the franchise, which has consistently sought to strengthen its bowling attack with experienced T20 specialists.

Mustafizur’s exit from the IPL came amid political and cricketing controversies.

Following his removal from Kolkata Knight Riders, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) decided to boycott their scheduled World Cup match in India, citing perceived unfair treatment. This move ultimately led to Bangladesh’s exit from that tournament.

In a show of solidarity, Pakistan also opted out of its World Cup clash against India, a decision that has drawn attention and concern from the International Cricket Council (ICC) due to potential financial implications for the event.

Mustafizur has been widely regarded as one of the top T20 bowlers globally, with a reputation for controlling runs in the final overs and delivering key breakthroughs, making him a valuable addition to the Qalandars’ squad.

Lahore Qalandars have now bolstered their pace attack ahead of PSL 11, signaling ambitions to compete strongly in the upcoming season while also drawing significant fan attention due to the high-profile nature of the signing.
