Lahore continued to struggle with severe smog on Tuesday, ranking as the second most polluted city in the world, according to air quality monitoring data.

Lahore’s overall Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at a hazardous level of 553, posing serious health risks to residents. Among various parts of the city, Iqbal Town reported the highest AQI reading of 947, followed by FC College at 923 and Johar Town at 830, indicating extremely poor air quality across multiple neighbourhoods.

Despite the intense smog, the weather remained clear with sunshine throughout the day. The Pakistan Meteorological Department reported the city’s current temperature at 15 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature earlier in the morning was recorded at 12 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature is expected to reach around 26 degrees Celsius.

Winds were blowing at a light speed of 3 kilometres per hour, providing little relief from the smog hanging over the city. Environmental experts have urged citizens to limit outdoor activities and use protective masks, as the air quality remains in the hazardous range.
