Lahore authorities reported that the main suspect involved in an acid attack on a ninth-grade student in Chohung has been injured during an alleged police encounter. According to a statement from the DIG Operations spokesperson, one of the suspects was also injured by a fellow accomplice’s gunfire and has been arrested, while the second suspect remains at large.

The attack occurred as the student was returning home from her academy when the suspects suddenly threw acid at her and fled the scene. The victim is currently receiving treatment at a hospital, suffering burns to her face, head, and shoulders.

Police in Green Town intercepted two suspicious motorcyclists, who reportedly opened fire on the officers, with the police vehicle coming under gunfire. The injured suspect was transported to Jinnah Hospital, and the search for the second suspect is ongoing.

Authorities said the attack stemmed from a personal dispute, as the perpetrators targeted the girl over a refusal of a marriage proposal. A case has been registered at the behest of the victim’s father.

Law enforcement continues to pursue the remaining suspect while ensuring the safety and medical care of the victim.
