ISLAMABAD: Branch of a well-known bakery in Bahria Town Phase 7, has been shut down following a customer’s complaint regarding the discovery of a cockroach inside one of the display racks.

Assistant Commissioner (AC) Qandeel Fatima Memon swiftly responded to the incident, acting upon the orders of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rawalpindi.

In response to the alarming complaint, AC Memon took immediate action, sealing Layers Bakery with the assistance of officials from the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) to ensure compliance with food safety standards.

The presence of a cockroach within a display rack where edible products are showcased has raised serious concerns about hygiene and sanitation. This incident has prompted local authorities to take stringent measures to prevent potential health risks to the public.

The closure of Layers Bakery will remain in effect until a comprehensive inspection and cleaning process is completed, guaranteeing the implementation of all necessary measures to uphold food safety standards.

This is not the first time Layers has been sealed. Previously, its Islamabad branch was sealed when a lizard awas allegedly found in one of its cakes.
