Building owners to be fined for violating parking rules in Lahore


LDA seals properties for parking rules violations

LAHORE: Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi chaired a Lahore Development Authority (LDA) meeting on Friday, during which a decisive stance was taken against the plaza and building owners found violating parking regulations.

The meeting underscored the importance of stringent measures for those breaching parking agreements, imposing fines equivalent to 0.5 per cent of the DC property rate for offenders.

Furthermore, building owners failing to open parking facilities within the specified timeframe will be subject to fines of Rs10,000 per kanal.

In a bid to ensure the effective implementation of parking agreements, the meeting approved amendments to the LDA Building and Zoning Rules and Regulations.

Preliminary approval was granted for the construction of U-turns and slip roads at seven intersections to address traffic concerns in the provincial capital.

Prior to final approval, a temporary exercise will be conducted to evaluate traffic flow through the installation of temporary barriers.

A notable effort was highlighted in the eradication of temporary encroachments through camp establishments at 32 locations in the provincial capital.

Additionally, measures to enhance road infrastructure at 26 locations gained approval, including the construction of a protected U-turn between Canal Road Harbanspura and Jallo.

In a significant move to promote hockey, steps were approved to entrust the management of Johar Town’s hockey stadium to the private sector.

The meeting also sanctioned the reconstitution of promotion committees for TEPA and the approval of the lease of Lahore Global Village to the Punjab Central Business District Authority.

Penalties were implemented to address illegal commercial land use under the jurisdiction of the Lahore Development Authority.

Moreover, the meeting greenlit the procurement of consultant services for the commercialization of nine roads in Lahore.

Amendments to the LDA Rules 2020, allowing for the permission of petrol pumps and freight terminals in the transportation zone, were also granted approval.
