Leao’s brilliance fires Milan past Fiorentina in comeback win

AC Milan

WEB DESK: Rafael Leao stole the show as AC Milan rallied from behind to edge Fiorentina 2-1 at San Siro, marking a triumphant night on Stefano Pioli’s return to his former home. The victory lifted Milan to the top of the Serie A table, leapfrogging city rivals Inter.

After a goalless and uninspired first half, Milan found themselves trailing when Robin Gosens pounced on Matteo Gabbia’s defensive lapse to give Fiorentina the lead. But Leao responded in spectacular fashion, curling a precise low shot past David De Gea to level the score.

Substitute Santiago Gimenez later won a penalty — the same scenario that haunted Christian Pulisic against Juventus — but this time, Leao made no mistake from the spot to complete Milan’s turnaround.

Luka Modric orchestrated play masterfully in midfield, while Youssouf Fofana’s tireless work rate helped Milan control the game’s tempo in a statement victory for the Rossoneri.
