LEAs arrest suspect linked to Chilas bus attack

GILGIT: Law enforcement agencies have apprehended a suspect linked to the heinous Chilas bus attack, confirmed by Gilgit-Baltistan Home Minister Shams Lone on Sunday.
At least 12 people were killed while 24 others sustained injuries when unidentified militants opened indiscriminate gunfire on a passenger bus en route from Ghizer to Rawalpindi in the Hudur area of Chilas on December 1 last year.
Talking to HUM News English, the home minister said the arrest was made following actionable intelligence received from the Jaglot area of Gilgit.
Lone reiterated his dedication to the pursuit of justice following the arrest. Vowing to leave no stone unturned, the minister affirmed his commitment to relentlessly pursue every last perpetrator involved in the heinous act of terrorism.
He pledged to eradicate the scourge of terrorism from the region, emphasizing the collective resolve of law enforcement agencies to ensure the safety and security of all citizens.
Law enforcement agencies have released a list of six terrorists believed to be involved in the Chilas bus attack.
Security for Diamer Basha Dam project reviewed
Meanwhile, a high-level security meeting was convened under the chair of Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Haji Gulbar Khan to review the security for the Diamer Bhasha Dam project.
During the meeting, Chief Minister Khan directed for full-proof security arrangements for foreign nationals working on the dam project.
He emphasized that the Diamer Bhasha Dam is pivotal for Pakistan’s prosperity.
Furthermore, he underscored that no compromise would be tolerated regarding the security of foreign workers involved in the dam’s construction. Khan also instructed to liaise with the Chairman of WAPDA to enhance training and provide modern weaponry to improve dam security.
