Legal team crafts strategy to save Nawaz Sharif from imprisonment

ISLAMABAD: In a bid to prevent Nawaz Sharif’s incarceration, PML-N’s legal team has crafted a strategy.

According to sources, they intend to submit applications in the Islamabad High Court regarding the Al-Azizia and Even Field references.

These applications, designed to challenge the convictions, are expected to be filed by Nawaz Sharif’s legal representatives within the next 48 hours.

A preliminary draft of these applications, which could potentially safeguard Nawaz Sharif from imprisonment, has already been prepared.

Sources reveal that the final versions of these applications will be formalized after a careful consideration of various legal aspects, likely within the day or by tomorrow.

It’s worth noting that the accountability court had meted out a ten-year prison sentence and a fine of eight million pounds to Nawaz Sharif.

Specifically, in the Al-Azizia reference, the accountability court handed him down a seven-year prison term.

Furthermore, these legal proceedings have rendered former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif ineligible to hold public office for a period of ten years.
