Legal troubles mount for Indian cricketer Yash Dayal over minor’s sexual assault case

WEB DESK: Indian cricketer Yash Dayal is facing increased legal challenges following serious allegations of sexual assault involving a minor girl. A special court in Jaipur on Thursday rejected his pre-arrest bail application in the case, meaning he could now face arrest and investigation.

The court cited the victim’s statement, available evidence, and the circumstances of the case, noting that granting bail was inappropriate, particularly in cases governed by the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, which requires sensitive and careful handling.

Allegations of long-term exploitation

According to reports, the girl accused Dayal of sexually exploiting her over several years by promising to help her build a cricket career. She was a minor when she first met him, prompting the police to register the case under the POCSO Act.

This is not the first serious allegation against Dayal. He has previously faced another sexual exploitation case, which has already affected his cricketing career.

The rejection of bail marks a significant development in the legal proceedings, as authorities prepare to investigate the allegations in detail while maintaining the confidentiality and protection required under child protection laws.

The case has sparked renewed scrutiny of Dayal’s professional and personal conduct, raising questions about the impact on his cricket career and the broader responsibility of sports authorities in preventing abuse.
