WEB DESK: The long-awaited merger of the Levies Force into the Balochistan Police has been successfully completed, ushering in a new era of unified policing across the province.
According to officials, a total of 32,942 Levies personnel have been integrated into the Balochistan Police following the establishment of a comprehensive new administrative structure.
This landmark development marks the complete abolition of the decades-old A and B area classifications, which had previously created a dual system of law enforcement in the province, according to Radio Pakistan.
End of divided policing system
The elimination of the A and B areas means that responsibility for law and order in Balochistan now falls entirely under the jurisdiction of the Police Department.
The move is expected to eliminate inconsistencies in policing standards, improve response times, and foster better coordination in tackling security challenges.
Boost to police capabilities
Inspector General of Balochistan Police hailed the integration, emphasising that the addition of thousands of Levies personnel would significantly strengthen the overall capacity of the police force.
“The Levies personnel joining the Police will enhance the strength of the police force,” he stated.
The merger is viewed as a critical step towards modernising law enforcement in Balochistan, one of Pakistan’s largest and most strategically important provinces.
Analysts believe the unified command will help address longstanding issues related to tribal policing systems and bring greater professionalism and accountability to security operations.
The provincial government has expressed confidence that the restructured force will contribute to improved peace and stability in the region.
