LHC seeks reply over arrest of Sheikh Rashid, nephew

LAHORE: The Rawalpindi Bench of the Lahore High Court has requested responses within three days from both the Punjab and federal governments, as well as senior provincial law enforcement officials, regarding the arrest of Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, the leader of the Awami Muslim League and former interior minister, and his nephew.
Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan presided over the hearing of the case concerning Sheikh Rashid’s arrest at the Rawalpindi Bench of the Lahore High Court. During the proceedings, petitioner Sardar Abdul Razzq alleged that Rashid and his nephew had been taken into custody by plainclothes personnel and Rawalpindi police.
Additionally, Razzq stated that despite a 48-hour timeframe, Sheikh Rashid had not been presented before any court of law.
The court has sought answers from the concerned parties regarding the recovery of Sheikh Rashid, his nephew Sheikh Shakir, and staff member Imran.
Sh Rashid files petition against arrest in LHC
The Lahore High Court has directed the federal and Punjab governments, as well as the Regional Police Officer (RPO) of Rawalpindi, the Police Officer (PO), and the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) for operations to provide their responses within three days.
Former Interior Minister and Awami Muslim League (AML) leader, Sheikh Rasheed, was arrested at his residence in Rawalpindi on Sunday. Sardar Abdurrazaq, legal counsel for the former minister, confirmed that Sheikh Rasheed was apprehended by plain-clothes officers from his residence. He also stated that two nephews of the former Interior Minister, Sheikh Rasheed, were also arrested and taken to an undisclosed location.
