LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has summoned Hamiza Mukhtar, the woman who accused former Pakistan cricket captain Babar Azam of sexual harassment, to appear before the court on February 6.
The court is hearing a petition filed by Babar Azam, seeking the dismissal of the harassment case against him.
The Pakistani cricketer has challenged the trial court’s decision to allow the case to proceed. The LHC has temporarily suspended the trial court’s order and called Mukhtar to present her case.
Babar Azam, one of Pakistan’s most prominent cricketers, has denied the accusations, which have gained significant media attention.
Mukhtar said that Azam promised to marry her but later assaulted her and failed to fulfil his promise after becoming famous.
The case has faced multiple delays since 2021, with hearings pushed back to new dates.
Earlier, the International Cricket Council (ICC) revealed the Men’s T20 Team of the Year, with Pakistan’s Babar Azam earning a spot in the lineup, which is predominantly composed of Indian players.
Indian skipper Rohit Sharma leads the team, joined by Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, and Arshdeep Singh. The announcement was made by the ICC on Saturday, January 25, 2025.
