During a chat behind the scenes at the Ivors Academy in London, where she nabbed a shiny award for her song-slinging prowess, Del Rey couldn’t help but wonder why the Bond folks as enraptured with her song as the terminally online Tumblr crowd.

It appears that luck is not on the Sad Queen’s side. The coveted Bond theme throne was claimed by none other than Sam Smith, who even took home an Oscar for his track “Writing’s On the Wall”.

Lana Del Rey tipped her hat to Smith, admitting he nailed it. Still, she joked that she’d keep on daydreaming her song was the flick’s title track.

Meanwhile at the Ivors Academy event, Sir Paul McCartney presented Bruce Springsteen with the Academy Fellowship, a first for an American. Springsteen, visibly delighted, thanked everyone for their kindness during his time in the UK.
