Lily Allen takes swipe at ex David Harbour with ‘revenge dress’ covered in receipts

Lily Allen and David Harbour

Lily Allen appeared to take a pointed swipe at ex-husband David Harbour during the opening night of her latest tour.

The singer launched her West End Girl tour at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall earlier this week, performing songs from her breakup album while wearing a series of dramatic stage outfits tied to the record’s themes.

One moment quickly drew attention.

During her performance of ‘4Chan Stan’, Allen wrapped herself in a long strip of fabric printed with handwritten lyrics and receipts from tequila bars and luxury department store Bergdorf Goodman.

The receipts reference lyrics in the song about discovering that her husband had allegedly bought another woman an expensive handbag at the upscale retailer.

A ‘revenge dress’ with receipts

Allen wore the receipt-covered fabric over a custom Self-Portrait ruffled lace bodysuit paired with burgundy patent hot pants, an Agent Provocateur bra, Calzedonia fishnet tights and Christian Louboutin pumps.

The show’s looks were styled by Interview magazine editor-in-chief Mel Ottenberg, who said on Instagram that Allen persuaded him to return to tour styling nearly two decades after he first worked with the singer.

Makeup artist Aimée Twist and hairstylist Ross Kwan completed the stage look, with Kwan styling Allen’s hair into a bouffant with bangs.

A breakup album brought to the stage

Across the 45-minute set, Allen performed all 14 tracks from the album, which many fans believe chronicles the breakdown of her marriage to the Stranger Things actor.

Each outfit change reflected a different chapter of the record’s narrative.

Allen opened the concert in a pink tweed Valentino skirt suit with an oversized black bow before changing into a black leather bullet-bra bustier dress by 16Arlington for ‘Beg For Me’.

For ‘Madeline’, a track about a woman she allegedly discovered in her husband’s messages, Allen appeared on a pink-lit stage in a sheer Valentino negligee paired with a feather-trimmed silk robe.

Tour continues after split

Allen reportedly wrote the album in just ten days following her split from Harbour.

She previously performed two tracks from the record during an appearance on Saturday Night Live in December.

The singer has since confirmed she is now dating London-based writer and artist Jonah Freud, the great-great-grandson of psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud.

Allen’s West End Girl tour continues across the United Kingdom through March before heading to North America in April.
