Earlier, in a similar global disruption, users worldwide faced challenges accessing Facebook and Instagram. Many individuals reported unexpected logouts from their accounts, attributing the issues to technical glitches rather than deliberate restrictions.

During this outage, Meta’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mark Zuckerberg, incurred a substantial financial setback, losing nearly $3 billion within the span of an hour.

According to reports, Zuckerberg’s net worth experienced a sharp decline of more than $2 billion due to the global shutdown. This sudden decline brought Zuckerberg’s total net worth down to $176 billion in just a single day.
