ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has officially announced the date for local body elections in Islamabad, confirming that the polls will take place on February 15, 2026. The announcement sets the stage for a series of important steps leading up to the elections, with key dates outlined for candidates and voters alike.
According to the ECP, the process will begin with the display of public notices for nomination papers on December 19, 2025. Candidates wishing to contest the elections will have the opportunity to submit their nomination papers between December 22 and 27, 2025.
Following this, the scrutiny of the submitted papers will take place from December 30, 2025, to January 3, 2026, with any objections or appeals to be filed between January 5 and 8, 2026. The tribunals will address and resolve these appeals from January 9 to 13, 2026.
The last date for candidates to withdraw their nomination papers will be January 15, 2026. A final list of candidates will be published on January 16, 2026, with election symbols allotted the same day.
This timeline sets a clear path towards the local body elections, which are expected to play a crucial role in the political landscape of Islamabad. As the process unfolds, the Election Commission will ensure transparency and fairness, with both political parties and independent candidates gearing up for the upcoming elections.
These local body elections mark a significant step in the democratic process, giving Islamabad’s residents the opportunity to elect representatives who will serve at the grassroots level.
