KARACHI: Islamabad United defeated Lahore Qalanders in the 16th match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), chasing Qalanders’ modest 100-run target in just 10.2 overs. During the match, Devon Conway shone with an unbeaten 59 off 35 balls in the second game hosted in Karachi today.

Lahore Qalanders’ total of 100 runs is the lowest posted by any team so far in the 2026 PSL edition.

Earlier, Lahore Qalanders won the toss and chose to bat first against Islamabad United, aiming to set a competitive total. However, none of their batters managed to make a significant contribution or take the total to a strong score.

Sikandar Raza top-scored with 25 off 19 balls, while Haseebullah Khan made 19 off 22. The experienced Asif Ali could add only 15 runs.

A similar struggle followed in the field as they attempted to defend the lowest total of the ongoing PSL season.

Devon Conway led the chase with 59 off 35, while Mohammad Faiq contributed 34 off 19. Sameer Minhas, considered a rising star and a potential future member of Pakistan’s playing XI, also got an opportunity, but only 5 runs were required at that stage.

During the chase, Lahore Qalanders’ bowling attack, featuring captain Shaheen Shah Afridi, Rassie van der Dussen, Haris Rauf, Ubaid Shah, Mustafizur Rahman, and Sikandar Raza, failed to defend the 100-run target.

Eventually, Lahore Qalanders were comfortably defeated.

Today’s PSL 17th match features an exciting clash between Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings, with Peshawar playing back-to-back matches, making stamina and strategy crucial. Both teams have played three matches so far in the tournament.

Currently, Karachi Kings sit at the second spot on the points table with 6 points, while Peshawar Zalmi is in fourth place with 5 points. Despite some doubts before the tournament about Karachi’s lineup, they have started very strongly, showing consistent performances with both bat and ball. Their captain, David Warner, who returned after a brief break during the last matches, has been leading from the front, providing the team with solid starts in the opening overs alongside Mohammad Wasim Jr., whose aggressive batting has been crucial in setting early momentum.
