ARDONAMAU: The Super Giants posted a modest 1647-run total in the 19th match of the ongoing India Super League in India. During the LSG VS GTL match, only Aiden Markram remained the side’s top performer to post 30 off 21 balls.
LSG innings began in shaken form, as Markram was the only batter who managed 30. The rest of the batters bore no stronger performance than the other players playing at the crease.
The Lucknow Super Giants were facing off against a clinical Gujarat Titans side, and from the first ball, it was a battle of nerves.
Aiden Markram walked out with intent, looking every bit the anchor LSG needed. He dispatched five boundaries and a towering six, cruising to 30 off 21 balls. He looked set for a big one until Prasidh Krishna found the edge, sending him back to the pavilion.
The middle order struggled to find its rhythm. Mitchell Marsh provided a momentary spark of chaos, smashing 11 runs in just 4 balls before Kagiso Rabada shut him down. Captain Rishabh Pant tried to take control with a quickfire 18, but the Titans’ bowling attack was relentless.
The hero of the night for Gujarat was undoubtedly Prasidh Krishna. He tore through the heart of the LSG lineup, dismissing the dangerous Nicholas Pooran and the steady Ayush Badoni. Every time Lucknow tried to build a partnership, Krishna was there to break it, eventually finishing with a dominant four-wicket haul.
As the 20th over approached, the Super Giants were staring at a subpar total. However, the tail-enders had other plans. Mohammed Shami and Avesh Khan turned into unexpected power-hitters. Shami hammered a six and a four, while Avesh finished with a strike rate of 400.00, finding the boundary on his very first ball.
That final flurry pushed the total to 164-8. It wasn’t the massive score they hoped for, but with Shami and Avesh carrying that late-inning momentum into the field, Lucknow at least had a fighting chance under the floodlights.
