LAHORE: The Pakistan Super League (PSL) management has announced significant changes to its administrative and player selection structure ahead of the tournament’s 11th edition.

According to the new framework, player selection for HBL PSL 11 will be carried out through an auction system instead of the traditional draft. Officials said the auction model is aimed at creating more balanced teams while providing players with greater earning opportunities.

Under the revised rules, the concepts of mentors, brand ambassadors and the “right to match” have been abolished. Ahead of the auction, each franchise will be allowed to retain up to four players, with a maximum of one player from each category.

In addition, both new teams joining the league will be given the opportunity to select four players each before the auction process begins. Franchises have also been permitted to directly sign one international player, provided that the player was not part of the 2025 edition of the tournament.

The salary cap for each team to be used during the auction has been set at $1.6 million.

Officials further confirmed that the 11th edition of the HBL PSL will commence on March 26. Some matches of the tournament will also be hosted at Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad, marking the venue’s inclusion in PSL fixtures.
