Major outage in UK disrupts TV channels, hits Virgin Media services

LONDON: Thousands of customers across the UK turned to outage-tracking website DownDetector after major telecommunications provider Virgin Media experienced widespread service issues on Thursday.

Many users took to social media platform X to report problems and seek answers about the disruption. One user wrote, “Virgin Media TV not working, completely pixelated.”

While trying to investigate the issue further, the customer reportedly received a message stating: “Sorry, there was an issue checking your services.”

Another user, Sue Hancock, also posted on DownDetector, saying, “TV channels pixelated, broadband fine. Can’t check service status. Box rebooted/switched off several times but no joy.”

The exact cause of the outage has not yet been confirmed. However, the relevant authorities and service teams are currently investigating the matter and working to restore services for affected customers as soon as possible.
