Malakand: JUI District chief Mufti Kifayatullah injured in firing incident

MALAKAND: The District amir of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) in Batkhela, Mufti Kifayatullah, was seriously injured when unidentified gunmen opened fire at his residence, Levies officials said on Saturday.

According to Levies, unidentified assailants opened fire at Mufti Kifayatullah’s home, killing his son and daughter on the spot while another son and daughter have also been injured.

The JUI leader and his wife sustained serious injuries in the attack.

The suspect managed to flee after the shooting.

Rescue teams and Levies personnel shifted the bodies and injured to DHQ Hospital Batkhela. Hospital sources later confirmed that Mufti Kifayatullah’s condition was out of danger, though his wife remained under treatment.

Authorities have launched a search operation to trace the attacker, while the motive behind the assault remains unclear.
