UNITED STATES: Nobel Laureate and global girls’ education rights advocate Malala Yousafzai on Wednesday announced emergency funding for children in war-torn Gaza.
In a statement on social media, she announced $300,000 in emergency funding from Malala Fund for three charities Kinder USA, Inara and Rawa Fund that are helping Palestinian children.
This is the second donation that Malala announced since Israel launched war on Gaza in October last year. Last year, she had donated $300,000 to the charities actively assisting children in Gaza.
“For nearly a year now, I have been thinking every day about the Palestinian children in Gaza suffering under relentless Israeli bombings. They have experienced abject horror and trauma as their homes and schools have been destroyed and their friends and family members killed,” she said.
“I stand with millions of people around the world demanding an immediate and lasting ceasefire. And today, I am directing another $300,000 in emergency funding from Malala Fund to three charities helping Palestinian children: Kinder USA, Inara and Rawa Fund.”
Malala said: “This funding will help humanitarian and social justice organisations doing heroic work: providing food, clean water and medical care to kids; helping parents with essential services to care for their children; supporting traumatised children with psychosocial and educational support; and building tents for displaced families.”
This contribution builds on the first $300,000 in emergency grants I announced in October 2023 to support similar work by Anera, PCRF and UNRWA USA.
Please take a moment to learn more about the critical work of these charities, support them if you can, and continue demanding a ceasefire.
