Man arrested for allegedly killing teenage ‘wife’ in Quetta

ISLAMABAD/QUETTA: A man has been arrested for allegedly beating his teenage ‘wife’ to death with iron rods at their residence in Killi Samali, Kuchlak, according to police and an FIR had been registered at Kuchlak police station under Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).

Speaking to Hum News Digital, SHO said the accused, identified as Kamran, son of Sattar, was around 30 years old, while the victim was approximately 14 or 15: “Kamran has been arrested in connection with the incident.”

According to the FIR, police received a wireless message from the control room and reached the New Trauma Centre on Spini Road, Quetta, where they found the deceased. Kamran was present beside her and identified the girl as his ‘wife’.

A doctor who examined the body observed blood-stained wounds on the body prompting the police prepared an injury statement and handed it to the duty doctor for autopsy, while proceedings under Section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure were initiated.

According to the FIR, Kamran told police that he was at home when his ‘wife’ repeatedly looked out of the door and stared at people passing along the road despite being warned several times. He allegedly said that when she looked out again at around 5:20pm on September 7, he lost his temper and beat her with iron rods, causing her death.

The FIR further states that the accused changed the victim’s clothes and took her to hospital, where she was admitted. Police subsequently registered a case against Kamran under Section 302 PPC on the basis of a written dispatch submitted by Sub-Inspector Jameel-ur-Rehman.

The SHO said the victim and Kamran had been ‘married’ for about a year, adding that the victim’s mother came to collect her body, while her father had died. He also mentioned the victim’s family was financially disadvantaged and had not raised any objections or filed a complaint in connection with the incident.

The FIR was registered at Kuchlak police station at 8:05pm on September 7. An investigating officer was assigned to probe the case and directed the investigating team to inspect the alleged crime scene and visit BMC Hospital, Quetta. Senior police officers were also informed of the case.
