Man from Karachi jailed for marrying a 15-year-old

A man in Karachi was sentenced to prison on Wednesday for marrying a 15-year-old girl. Following a case filed by the girl’s father, Muhammad Aslam has been given a two-year prison term for the illegal marriage.

However, the cleric who conducted the wedding and the witnesses involved are currently evading the authorities.

The legal age of marriage in Pakistan is typically 16, except in Sindh where it is 18.
