HARIPUR: A man killed his own two children and his parents-in-law before taking his own life in Hasanabdal’s village of Pand Mehri on Thursday.
The tragic shooting incident was triggered by a domestic dispute, police said.
According to police, a 36-year-old man, identified as Nasir, allegedly opened indiscriminate fire after forcibly entering his in-laws’ home following a domestic disagreement.
The victims included his 55-year-old mother-in-law, his own two-year-old daughter Kainat Nasirand six-year-old son Falak Nasir. Nasir also shot himself after the attack, dying on the spot, police said.
His father-in-law, 60-year-old Nisar, son of Aslam, was critically wounded in the shooting and later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, taking the death toll to five.
Police said the injured were rushed to a nearby hospital in a private vehicle but could not survive due to the severity of their wounds.
Rescue 1122 was alerted immediately, and two ambulances reached the scene, shifting the bodies to hospital for legal formalities. Police also collected forensic evidence from the site and launched an initial investigation.
Authorities said the exact reasons behind the domestic dispute are being examined, and investigations are under way from all angles.
Following the incident, a pall of grief descended over Pand Mehri village, with residents expressing shock and sorrow over the brutal killings.
