Man kills wife, three in-laws before taking own life

LAHORE: A man allegedly killed his wife and three of her family members in a shooting at their home in Lahore’s Chuhng area early Tuesday before taking his own life, police said.

The police identified the attacker as Imran, who shot himself dead after killing his in-laws.

The incident took place in Barkat Colony, where the suspect allegedly opened fire on his wife, mother-in-law, father-in-law and brother-in-law before committing suicide.

Police said Imran killed his wife, Samia Bibi, father-in-law Ali Khan, brother-in-law Zeeshan Khan and mother-in-law Shamaila Bibi in the firing.

According to relatives, the suspect arrived at his in-laws’ home early in the morning and knocked on the door. When the door was opened, he allegedly entered and started firing.

The relatives said that Zeeshan, who used to tach children the Holy Quran, heard the door being knocked and assumed that one of the children he taught had arrived for Quran classes. When he opened the door, the suspect allegedly entered the house and opened fire on him before killing the other three.

Police said that the suspect had married the woman of his choice in February this year.

The woman’s family subsequently registered a kidnapping case against him.

According to police, the woman recorded a statement against the suspect in court, following which he remained in jail for about a month.

He had recently been released from prison, police said.

According to relatives, the man had allegedly married the woman at gunpoint. The marriage came to the family’s knowledge about a month later, after which they registered the kidnapping case.

Sundar police have registered a case over the killings on the complaint of Usman, the brother of the slain woman.

The complainant has also nominated the suspect’s father and three brothers in the FIR, according to police.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting, including the motive and the allegations made by the complainant against the suspect’s family.
