Manika gets eight day remand

OKARA: A local court has granted an eight-day physical remand for Khawar Farid Manika, the ex-husband of former first lady Bushra Bibi.
The remand was approved on Tuesday after Manika was presented before the court by the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE). The court has scheduled Maneka’s next appearance for October 4.
Khawar Manika detained at Lahore Airport, handed over to ACE
Khawar Farid Manika was arrested on Monday by the Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) in Lahore. He faces charges related to the illegal construction on government-owned land.
Sohail Zafar Chatha, the Director General of ACE, disclosed that an inquiry into Manika’s actions was initiated following a reference filed by the Okara deputy commissioner. The reference alleges that Manika unlawfully erected a marriage hall and 26 shops on a site designated for a graveyard.
