Mark Zuckerberg purchases 19th-century Irish castle for $35mln

WEB DESK: Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has purchased a 19th-century historic castle in Ireland for up to $35 million.

According to foreign media reports, Zuckerberg bought Strancally Castle along with around 440 acres of surrounding land.

The property, located along a river, is surrounded by vast green grounds and features at least 11 bedrooms, four rooms in its towers, a library, dining room and drawing room.

The castle and its estate are valued between $23 million and $35 million, with the top-end price translating to around Rs9.70 billion in Pakistani currency.

A Meta spokesperson said Zuckerberg and his family would continue to maintain the historic residence.

The Meta CEO is keen to spend more time in Ireland, where Meta’s international headquarters is also located, according to New York Times.

Reports said Zuckerberg purchased the property from an investor who had lived there with his family for the past 25 years.

The purchase is Zuckerberg’s second major property acquisition this year. Earlier, he bought a house in Miami worth around $170 million.
