KAGHAN: The scenic valley of Kaghan just got even more spectacular! The world’s biggest sculpture of the Markhor – Pakistan’s majestic national animal – has been unveiled at the stunning Batakundi, one of the region’s must-visit scenic spots.
Perched at the breathtaking Shah Daoud Palace site, the gigantic installation is already drawing crowds of excited tourists eager to snap photos and soak in the views.
The impressive 105-foot-tall and 38-foot-wide masterpiece is the brainchild of Engineer Muhammad Shehzad and represents five years of dedication, craftsmanship, and sheer creativity.
Shehzad explains that the Markhor symbolises the valley’s natural beauty, and the sculpture is meant to celebrate both Pakistan’s cultural pride and the importance of wildlife conservation.
Local authorities and residents alike are confident that this giant landmark will boost tourism while raising awareness about protecting the Markhor, a nimble, spiral-horned species native to the mountainous regions of Chitral, Kohistan, Kalam, Gilgit-Baltistan, Balochistan, and parts of Azad Kashmir.
Known for their elegant horns and fearless climbing skills, Markhors are a living emblem of Pakistan’s rich wildlife heritage. And now, visitors to Kaghan Valley can experience their grandeur in monumental form!
