Maryam Nawaz hints at launching metro bus service for Faisalabad

Maryam Nawaz

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has hinted at the initiation of the metro bus service for Faisalabad.

She stated that, in accordance with the promise made by party leader Nawaz Sharif, the inauguration of the Faisalabad metro bus service will take place soon.

“Today was my third and final meeting with the department of transport regarding transportation issues,” she said.

She mentioned that she would approve 700 buses for Punjab, out of which 100 buses will be exclusively for Faisalabad.

Earlier, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz supremo Nawaz Sharif announced to launch a metro bus service in Faisalabad. Addressing an election rally in the city, he had emphasized that if his party was voted to power, they will not only start the metro bus service but also introduce an orange line metro train for Faisalabad.

This initiative was part of their commitment to improving public transportation and providing employment opportunities in the region.

The metro bus service is a public transportation system designed to provide a safe, efficient, and comfortable urban transit experience.

It typically operates as a bus rapid transit (BRT) system, which includes dedicated lanes for buses to avoid traffic congestion, modern stations, and often features automated fare collection and real-time information systems.

In Pakistan, cities like Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan have operational metro bus systems that aim to reduce traffic problems and offer a reliable mode of transportation for daily commuters.
