Maryam Nawaz launches Community Health Inspectors programme

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Wednesday launched Punjab’s first Community Health Inspectors Programme, aimed at delivering healthcare services to every household and enabling timely diagnosis of diseases.

The ceremony was held at the Punjab Hockey Stadium and was attended by 55,000 community health inspectors from across the province.

The chief minister walked around the stadium track, welcomed inspectors from all districts and responded to slogans with hand waves.

Maryam Nawaz said, “When mothers, sisters and daughters step into the field, no one can defeat Punjab. The daughters of Punjab will change the destiny of the province.”

She said that 25,000 community health inspectors will go into the field, visit homes, identify diseases and provide basic treatment.

The chief minister said the government will no longer wait for illness to come to hospitals; instead, it will go door to door to provide preventive guidance and diagnostic facilities.

Community health inspectors will be able to check blood sugar, conduct basic diagnostic tests and administer injections, while a digital health profile of every household will be created, she said.

She said that the programme has provided employment to 25,000 people, and each community health inspector will receive a monthly salary of Rs50,000, which will be increased based on performance.

Declaring community health inspectors a “mission,” she said this is not just a job but a spirit of service.

She said that the daughters of the nation will go into homes to serve the public and that respecting them is everyone’s responsibility.

During the ceremony, fireworks were displayed, inspectors performed a march-past to band music, and mobile phone lights were switched on to welcome the guests.

Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir also spoke and praised the performance of the chief minister.

Maryam Nawaz reaffirmed that the Punjab government believes in proactive governance and is taking practical steps to provide modern healthcare facilities to every citizen.
