LAHORE: The nikah ceremony of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s daughter, Mahnoor Safdar, has been scheduled for September 12 at the Sharif family’s Jati Umra residence in Lahore, according to family sources.

The ceremony will be held at 5pm on Saturday, with the event being kept private and limited to members of the Sharif family and close relatives, the sources said.

Around 100 guests have been invited to attend the nikah ceremony, reflecting the family’s decision to keep the occasion intimate.

Mahnoor is the youngest daughter of Maryam Nawaz and her husband, Capt (retd) Muhammad Safdar.

She recently completed her graduation in anthropology from SOAS University of London, with Maryam Nawaz travelling to London earlier this week to attend the graduation ceremony.

Maryam had described her daughter’s graduation as a particularly proud moment for the family and said all three of her children had now completed their higher education.

No details about the groom or any subsequent wedding events have been announced so far.

The ceremony will take place at the Sharif family’s Jati Umra estate, which has previously hosted major family wedding events.

Earlier this year, Maryam Nawaz’s son Junaid Safdar married Shanzeh Ali at Jati Umra in a ceremony attended by senior members of the Sharif family and prominent political figures.

Unlike Junaid’s wedding, which was a larger publicised family event, Mahnoor’s nikah is expected to remain a relatively private gathering, with the guest list limited to about 100 people.

The upcoming ceremony comes shortly after Mahnoor completed her studies at SOAS, where she studied from 2023 to 2026. She is the youngest of Maryam Nawaz and Muhammad Safdar’s three children.
