Matric exams in Rawalpindi delayed due to diplomatic activity in capital

RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) has postponed matric exams scheduled for April 10, as Islamabad prepares for high-level diplomatic talks between the United States and Iran.

The decision affects 64 examination centres across Rawalpindi city, where students were set to sit for compulsory Urdu and geography papers. Exams in other districts of the Rawalpindi Division will continue as planned.

A new date for the postponed papers will be announced soon, and students will be informed accordingly.

Authorities in Islamabad and Rawalpindi have declared local holidays on April 9 and 10 to ensure security during the sensitive peace talks. Strict measures have been implemented, with all law enforcement agencies and security forces deployed to maintain order.

A hotel in Islamabad’s Red Zone has been reserved for the US and Iranian delegations, with the premises vacated and heavily secured under government instructions, underscoring the importance of the upcoming diplomatic engagement.
