Hollywood stars Matthew McConaughey and Michael Caine are stepping into the world of artificial intelligence with new collaborations that aim to preserve and share iconic voices. Both actors have partnered with New York-based AI audio company ElevenLabs, which specialises in generating realistic voice simulations.

McConaughey, who has been working with ElevenLabs since 2022, has also invested an undisclosed sum in the company. He will use the technology to create a Spanish-language edition of his newsletter, Lyrics of Livin’.

The move will allow McConaughey to reach a wider audience, sharing his stories and ideas in his own voice in multiple languages. “I launched my newsletter as a way to connect with people through storytelling,” McConaughey said. “Now, thanks to ElevenLabs, more people can experience Lyrics of Livin’ in a language they understand.”

Michael Caine has added his voice to ElevenLabs’ Iconic Voice Marketplace, a platform where creators can request to use voices for their projects after gaining approval from rights holders. Other famous voices available include Judy Garland, John Wayne, Liza Minnelli, Maya Angelou and Burt Reynolds. The platform ensures that every voice is used ethically, with agreements negotiated before AI technology is applied.

“For years, I’ve lent my voice to stories that inspired people,” Caine said. “With ElevenLabs, we can help others find theirs. This technology celebrates humanity instead of replacing it, giving storytellers new tools to be heard.”

Both partnerships come amid growing scrutiny of AI voice technology, with lawsuits challenging consent and copyright issues. Despite this, McConaughey is moving forward with the launch of the AI-generated Spanish edition of his newsletter, expected this Friday.

ElevenLabs says the platform is designed to support creators while addressing ethical concerns, allowing some of the world’s most recognisable voices to reach new audiences responsibly.
