Maulana Fazl calls for fresh elections sans establishment’s interference

ISLAMABAD: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazal (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Tuesday called for fresh elections in the country sans establishment’s interference and asked the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) led government to step down.

He elaborated by stating that the current National Assembly lacks strength, adding that failure to protect the sanctity of the vote could lead the nation towards servitude. He further said that in his view there exists no effective government, suggesting that individuals have been assigned roles they simply enjoy without fulfilling their duties.

He added that if a conducive environment for negotiations is created, reservations will be addressed for the betterment of the country. He said that two delegations from PTI came for a meeting.
