DI KHAN: JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that he believes elections may not take place on the scheduled date on February 8, and elections are delayed by a few days, it should not be a big issue. He urged the Election Commission of Pakistan to consider his party’s request for the poll delay by a few days.
Addressing a press conference in DI Khan, Rehman stated that the new government won’t be able to present a budget in June. While expressing the desire to participate in elections, he emphasized the necessity of a conducive environment, considering the prevailing circumstances.
He mentioned that although he was at home yesterday, there were gunshots on his vehicle, raising questions about the incident’s impact on peace and security.
He talked about the attacks on JUI-F leadership even in Tank. Pointing out security concerns in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, he highlighted the ECP’s concern of the deteriorating situation in two provinces, but stressed that simply acknowledging the problem is not a solution.
Maulana Fazl asserted that the country was on the brink of economic collapse in the last three to four years, with the economy now approaching default again after showing signs of recovery within 16 months.
He emphasized the need to restore global trust, mend relations of distrust between Afghanistan and Pakistan, and underscored the importance of stability in Afghanistan.
