Maulana Fazl to leave for Gaza: JUI-F sources

ISLAMABAD: Jamiat Ulema Islam (JUI) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has reportedly left for Gaza to help the Palestinians who are under attack by Israel.

JUI spokesperson Aslam Ghori also confirmed Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s travel to Gaza, but he did not share the details.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman is the first religious and political leader of any Muslim country to travel to a war zone.

His movements were kept secret as he wanted to quietly reach out to the devastated people and help them, taking food and medicine with him, according to the spokesperson.

Sources close to Maulana Fazlur Rehman told the media that after addressing a large rally held in Karachi to express solidarity with the Palestinians, which was named Al-Aqsa Storm March and the Sindh Peace Conference, Maulana left for the destination from where he will reach out to the oppressed Palestinians.

Meanwhile some media reports quoting another key JUI official said Maulana was in Qatar to meet Hamas leadership.
