Maulana Fazlur Rehman calls for fresh elections

WEB DESK: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has called for new elections in the country, expressing renewed concerns about the February general elections, during which independent candidates supported by the PTI won a majority of seats.

Speaking at a press conference, Fazlur Rehman said that the government lacks the authority to address their grievances and criticized the transparency of the February 8 elections.

He called for restoring voting rights to the public and urged for new elections to be conducted under a transparent framework.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman expressed his endorsement of the counterterrorism operation named Azm-i-Istehkam, saying that the entire nation stands united with the army when it comes to defending the country.

He offered an olive branch to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), indicating that JUI would welcome negotiations. However, he pointed out PTI’s internal divisions and the absence of a designated negotiation team.
