May 9 riots: ATC allows police to investigate, arrest PTI chairman at Attock Jail

LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court in Lahore on Wednesday granted permission to the police to carry out an investigation and arrest the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman in connection with the attack on Jinnah House on May 9.
Judge Ejaz Ahmad Buttar granted permission to the police after the investigation police had submitted the request for the investigation and arrest of the PTI chairman at Attock Jail.
The PTI chairman was arrested on August 5 after Islamabad sessions court judge, Humayun Dilawar, handed down a verdict against him.

The conviction, under section 174 of the Elections Act, entails a three-year sentence to jail and a five-year disqualification from running for public office.
The former premier was shifted to was later transferred to Attock jail.
