PESHAWAR: Khyber Medical University (KMU) on Wednesday has offcially declared the results of Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
The retake, necessitated by the misuse of technology during the initial examination in September 2023, took place in seven districts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on Sunday, November 26, under stringent security measures.
Khyber Medical University (KMU), the authority overseeing the MDCAT, revealed that six exceptional candidates clinched the top position by notching an impressive 192 marks in the competitive test.

Breaking down the statistics further, eleven candidates distinguished themselves by surpassing the 190-mark benchmark, while a noteworthy 402 candidates exhibited commendable performance, scoring between 180 and 189. A substantial 1910 candidates achieved scores ranging between 170 and 179.

Khyber Medical University disclosed that 46,218 candidates had initially registered for the MDCAT. However, on test day, only 34,852 candidates actively participated in the examination.
A notable aspect emerged as 11,366 registered candidates remained conspicuously absent from the test, as reported by the university.
In the MBBS category, 21,206 students have successfully passed, contributing to a 61% success rate
The BDS results are equally commendable, with a 70 percent pass rate and 24,283 students securing admission.
This retake of the MDCAT in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa stemmed from the decision of the caretaker provincial cabinet in September, which opted to re-conduct the test within six weeks due to the rampant use of unfair means during the initial examination held on September 11.
The latter was marred by a scandal involving more than 40 students who were apprehended for attempting to cheat using sophisticated Bluetooth devices.
While a joint investigation team, commissioned by the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government, successfully identified the mastermind behind the covert Bluetooth device scandal during the September MDCAT, the individual’s name was not released to the public.
Meanwhile Vice Chancellor of Khyber Medical University said that the university staff did very hard work in conducting the exam and he is thankful to all the institutions for their cooperation.
