FAISLABAD: The prices of essential medicines have witnessed a significant surge in Faisalabad.

Novidat, a commonly used medicine, has seen its price rise by Rs50, now ranging from Rs350 to Rs400. Similarly, Velosafe’s cost has spiked from Rs208 to Rs254, a shocking increase of Rs46.

Syrup Bonnisan, another crucial medication, has become costlier by Rs65, with its price escalating from Rs535 to Rs600. Indrop D, which was sold at Rs219, is now priced at Rs248, marking an increase of Rs29. The price of Panadol, relied upon by many for fever, has surged from Rs533 to Rs640, leaving patients concerned.

The situation is further worsened by the scarcity of some medicines. Patients suffering from epilepsy are concerned about the lack of Clara syrup in the market. Similarly, diabetes patients are grappling with the rarity of insulin, which serves as a lifeline for them.

These price hikes and shortages are placing an undue burden on patients, making access to necessary healthcare increasingly difficult. The local authorities and healthcare providers are urged to address these challenges promptly, ensuring that vital medications remain affordable and accessible for the well-being of the community.
