Melania Trump has issued a rare public statement denying any connection to Jeffrey Epstein, saying she had no knowledge of his crimes and was not among his victims.
Speaking unexpectedly at the White House, the first lady said she wanted to defend her “good name” against what she described as years of false claims circulating online.
“The lies linking me with the disgraceful Jeffrey Epstein need to end today,” she said, pointing to what she called fabricated images and misleading narratives that have persisted on social media.
‘No connection’ to Epstein
Trump made it clear she had no relationship with Epstein and no awareness of the abuse he was later accused of, stressing that she had never been involved in any aspect of his activities.
She also used the moment to call on US lawmakers to hold a congressional hearing for victims, shifting attention towards those directly affected by the case.
It remains unclear what prompted the first lady to address the issue now, particularly as speculation surrounding Epstein has circulated for years.
Her remarks come amid continued public scrutiny of the wider Epstein case and renewed pressure for transparency around those linked to him.
Ongoing political fallout
The Epstein scandal has remained a persistent issue in US politics, with segments of the public continuing to demand answers over how the case has been handled.
The White House did not clarify whether President Donald Trump was aware in advance of the topic of his wife’s statement.
