Mending Fences: Nawaz calls Fazl


ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif made a phone call to Maulana Fazlur Rehman, during which he confided in his recent meeting with Asif Ali Zardari in Dubai.

According to PML-N sources, Nawaz Sharif told  Maulana Fazlur Rehman that the purpose of the meeting between the two leaders was to discuss the current political situation in the country.

PML-N sources revealed that both Asif Ali Zardari and Nawaz Sharif were actively involved in deliberating over the supervisory setup. It is understood that their consultations were focused on determining the names of potential candidates for the role of caretaker prime minister.

The PML-N sources further disclosed that the ongoing consultation between Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari regarding the selection of the caretaker prime minister is still in progress. They emphasized that this process includes the involvement of various political parties.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman received an assurance from Nawaz Sharif regarding the inclusion of all political parties in the decision-making process. This reaffirms Nawaz Sharif’s commitment to ensuring broad representation and consensus among the political parties involved, the sources said.

Additionally, Nawaz Sharif instructed the Prime Minister to promptly convene a meeting with the heads of the coalition parties. This directive aims to foster dialogue and cooperation among the coalition partners, as indicated by the PML-N sources.
